
Free Online Courses : The American University in Cairo announced the Cynthia Nelson Free Online Courses Fellowship Program in Women and Gender Studies (IGWS). The late Cynthia Nelson, Professor of Anthropology, Founding Director of the Cynthia Nelson Institute for Women and Gender Studies (IGWS) and former Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, joined the American University in Cairo in 1963. Her efforts to promote women’s and gender studies in Egypt and the Arab world made her Prominent and respected figure in her field. Her great contributions to AUC remain unparalleled as she is a role model for generations of young and ambitious scholars. In addition to fully or partially covering tuition fees, the Competitive Cynthia Nelson Fellowship in Women and Gender Studies (IGWS) will provide students with the opportunity to work with a faculty member in research and other professional endeavors.

By accepting this externally funded fellowship, the recipient agrees to respond to any notification requests received from AUC on the deadline sent to the awarding fellow. Funded Fellowship for Researchers in African Studies from the Harvard University Center in Italy 2021
Both the I Tatti Center – Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies and the German Historical Center in Rome (DHI) are offering a joint fellowship for the 2021-2022 academic year. The fellowship offers postdoctoral students working in African studies (or subjects closely studying Africa) a ten-month position to conduct historical research in Italy with the support of two institutes with mobile academic societies.

The I Tatti Center and DHI, through this fellowship, seek to stimulate and support the increase of scholarships for cultural exchange with and within the African continent during the period between 1250-1750 by creating and promoting opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration, particularly between scholars from African regions and those working in institutions European and North America.
Fellows will spend five months (1 September 2021 – 30 January 2022) in Rome at DHI and five months (1 February – 30 June 2022) in Florence at I Tatti.
The fellowship is designed for researchers in fields related to the study of the history of pre-colonial and during the colonial period (1250-1750) including art history, history of expressionist cultures, musicology, economic history, intellectual, political and religious history as well as literature and languages.
Preference will be given to advanced research projects dealing with the relationship between the African continent and the countries of the Mediterranean during the early modern period, which includes the period from the fourteenth to the seventeenth centuries.
